CHEERLEADERS MAKE STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER

RANDOLPH, NJ — No one should walk alone in the fight against breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Randolph High School cheerleaders sent out a powerful message of hope and strength with pink poms in their hands and bows in their hair, cheering on nearly 17,000 walkers at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event on Oct. 16 in Parsippany, NJ.

Many of the cheerleaders and their coaches have grandmothers, mothers, aunts, cousins, and friends who have been affected by breast cancer, so they are passionate about this cause. Together, the RHS varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders have raised over $2,500 in online donations through the cheerleaders’ Making Strides website and at recent RHS varsity football games. These funds will help support the American Cancer Society’s groundbreaking breast cancer research as well as provide free information and services for those affected by breast cancer.

“Our coaching staff encourages our girls to develop not only into great athletes, but also instills the values of service to others, sportsmanship, community mindedness, and gratitude, “ said JV cheerleading coach Jenn Faliveno. “We work together with students, families, and the community to create a supportive environment, act as ambassadors for our school, and lead by example.”
